Board hosts Primary Education Forum
The Office of the Board of Studies hosted two Primary Education Research Forums in May and November 2006.
Lecturers in NSW primary education from universities across the state were invited to attend the forums to discuss the key learning areas, support for teachers and the latest research in primary education.
The purpose of the first forum was to update the lecturers on the NSW K-6 Foundation Statements and for representatives from government and non-government sectors to present up-to-date information about the implementation of the primary curriculum.
At the second forum in November, the lecturers shared their research into primary education, with topics ranging from Values Education and current initiatives in Mathematics research to multimodal possibilities in literacy and Science and Technology inquiry and implications for the syllabus.
More information about the 2006 Primary Education Forums (including forum papers) can be found at the K-6 website and will be provided in a future edition of the Board Bulletin.
A further Primary Education Forum will be held during 2007.
