KLA Review 2008 - Expression of Interest for KLA Reviewers
The Office of the Board of Studies is establishing a register of reviewers to assist with the annual Key Learning Area (KLA) Review.
The KLA Review supports the non-government school registration program by reviewing the curriculum documentation submitted by non-government schools in support of applications for registration and/or accreditation.
KLA Review 2008 - Expression of Interest for KLA Reviewers
Each year the Office seeks the assistance of educators with a high level of curriculum expertise and knowledge of the Board of Studies syllabus requirements to undertake the KLA Review in the areas of Primary and Secondary education including Vocational Education and Training.
Reviewers are required to undertake training that covers the syllabus requirements, the procedures involved in the review and ethical and professional issues including discussion of potential areas of conflict and confidentiality requirements. All reviewers sign a confidentiality agreement with regard to the work being undertaken.
The review occurs over a period of four weeks during April to May with the main review overlapping the end of Term 1 school holidays. Generally each reviewer would be offered approximately five (5) days work. The review takes place at the Office of the Board of Studies at 117 Clarence Street, Sydney.
Submission of an Expression of Interest
People with high level and successful experience in curriculum leadership and expertise in Board of Studies syllabus requirements are invited to submit an expression of interest for inclusion on the register of KLA reviewers.
The expression of interest form (see following) and accompanying statements of support should be submitted by 26 October 2007 to:

Selection of KLA Reviewers
The selection of reviewers will involve consideration of the following criteria:
- demonstrated expert knowledge of current Board of Studies syllabuses in the nominated KLA(s)
- recent and successful experience in leading curriculum development and/or evaluation in a school context
- a capacity to review curriculum materials in an online environment.
Your expression of interest should address these criteria.
Additionally, your expression of interest should nominate school(s) where you have had a role in leading and/or supporting curriculum development. The Office will consider conflict of interest in its selection of KLA reviewers.
