Keen Narromine HSC student awarded for study diligence!

- Narromine High School Year 12 student Jamie Wyatt
Jamie Wyatt, of Narromine High School, has been awarded a $50 University Co-op Bookshop voucher for using his Higher School Certificate Student ID and PIN to log in to the Board of Studies new Students Online website.
Jamie, 18, was selected randomly from the third batch of 5000 students to log in to studentsonline.bos.nsw.edu.au.
Dr John Bennett, the General Manager of the Office of the Board of Studies, said Students Online - an Australian first - was a valuable resource for Year 12 students as they prepare for the written HSC exams, which begin on 16 October 2008.
'The 2008 HSC enrolment statistics released yesterday show 3274 students from Western Region are enrolled in Year 12 courses in 2008 - an increase of 200 students on the 2007 figure', he said.
'This is an important time for all HSC students and I wish them the best as they undertake their final preparations for the exams.
'Students Online provides significant support for students by giving them access to all the Board's HSC resources in one easy location 24 hours, seven days a week.
'Thousands of students like Jamie are discovering the benefits of having their own personalised timetable, past papers, syllabuses and notes from markers at their finger tips.'
Dr Bennett said 16,500 students had logged in to Students Online just over three months after its June launch, while more than 140,000 overall visitors had viewed 620,000 pages on the website.
'Students Online is proving popular with the general public, librarians, schools and students alike', he said.
'This website is an Australian first and creates a personalised service for every NSW HSC student. The home page is built with "pods" of information that students can move around, add or remove to suit themselves.'
After logging in, each student sees official Board of Studies support material for their own subjects, such as:
- quick links to the syllabuses and past exam papers that apply to their courses
- their own HSC exam timetable
- an interactive 'To Do' pod where they can list upcoming assignments and set their study priorities to High, Medium or Low
- an Essential Links pod, allowing students to add any of their favourite websites to the important pre-loaded study sites
- answers to many Frequently Asked Questions about the HSC, with many more to be added as the exams draw closer
- access to individual Assessment Rank Order Notices when they are available in November.
'Students Online will supplement other support services for students, such as the HSC Advice Line, a telephone service on 13 11 12, which will operate from 11 October. The Advice Line provides advice on 26 major courses as part of an after-hours and weekend service.'
University Co-op Bookshop $50 vouchers will be given to students chosen randomly from each batch of 5000 students who log in for the first time until 30 November 2008.'
