Parkes DesignTECH Exhibition Media opportunity

Media are invited to the opening of an exhibition of outstanding major design projects from the 2008 Higher School Certificate Design and Technology course on 2 June 2009.

The exhibition showcases outstanding works by students from across NSW, including four students from Western NSW.

They are:

  • Sarah Brown, St John’s College Dubbo, who designed a decorative modular storage system for a child’s bedroom from large, brightly-coloured building blocks.
  • Julia Carman, Canowindra High School, who used different overlays to create three evening gowns from a tight fitting, lined and boned bodice and an A-line skirt, both made from white satin.
  • Melanie Jones, All Saints’ College Bathurst, who created a horse-float inspired device for transporting horse tack.
  • Lachlan Turner, The Scots School Bathurst, who designed Australian red cedar bedside tables inspired by an original chest of drawers from the 1880s.

A local student will be named as the winner of the UNSW Faculty of the Built Environment DesignTECH Regional Tour Award at the official opening.

The Parkes DesignTECH Exhibition Gallery Guide is now available to download.
