Records broken in HSC results delivery

The State's largest group of Higher School Certificates students continues to break records as results are downloaded in record time today.

Nearly 15,000 students pre-registered to received their results on a mobile phone this morning, about 2500 more than the previous maximum in 2007. The record 14,850 students received an abbreviated version of their results directly to their phone from 6am.

By 8am today, more results had been delivered than by 9am in 2009. More than 44,000 results had been issued at that time over the internet, by SMS and landline.

By 9am, more than 65,000 results had been issued, 48,016 by the internet.

Every year the range of devices students use to get their results grows broader.  By 8am iPhones were the most popular mobile device (1351 users), followed by iPods (348), iPads (256) and Android devices (145). A small number of students (10) used Playstation consoles and 18 used a Blackberry.

Results were viewed from dozens of countries around the world.  China led the way, following by Hong Kong, the United States of America and the United Kingdom.  Other nations included Iraq, Croatia, French Polynesia and the Solomon Islands.

Information about performance in the 2010 HSC will be released at a media conference at 12.30pm.

Students with questions about their HSC results should call the Board's HSC Results Inquiry Centre on 13 11 12 for the cost of a local call from anywhere in NSW.
