Schools to use NSW curriculum for K-12 in 2011

Primary and secondary principals are reminded that there will be no change to the NSW curriculum in 2011 (See Official Notice BOS 18/10).

While NSW is committed to a national curriculum, the Australian Curriculum has not been finalised in any learning areas and an implementation schedule has not yet been developed.

The Board anticipates that it will begin the process of developing new curriculum documents for NSW schools in 2011 with a view to substantial implementation of the Australian curriculum by 2013.

The heads of the Board of Studies, the Department of Education and Training, the Catholic Education Commission and the Association of Independent Schools recently co-signed a letter addressed to all principals updating schools on current developments in the Australian curriculum.
