Draft K-10 Australian Curriculum NSW Consultation Meetings and Online Survey

The first draft of the Australian Curriculum for K—10 English, mathematics, science and history has been released by ACARA for consultation.

Teachers are among those best positioned to provide valuable comments on these important curriculum documents and their contribution to reviewing and refining the draft curriculum is vital.

The draft curriculum for K—10 English, mathematics, science and history can be viewed at www.australiancurriculum.edu.au. Register on the website to view, download or print any or all of the draft curriculum documents and provide online feedback. The site also invites you to comment on the draft curriculum through an online survey.

The Board of Studies is coordinating feedback about the suitability of the Australian Curriculum for NSW schools and we encourage teachers to also contribute to the NSW consultation process by attending consultation meetings that are currently being held across NSW or completing the Board's online survey.

More than 1100 teachers and others have already registered to attend the 20 consultation meetings running in metropolitan and regional areas across NSW during March. As some meeting venues have a limited capacity, early registration is essential to secure a place.

The Board's online survey for K—10 English, mathematics, science and history will be open until 30 April, 2010.

The Board of Studies will co-ordinate the consultation feedback it receives from stakeholders, including input from the DET and other sectors. This feedback will inform the advice from the Board of Studies to the NSW Minister for Education and Training about the implementation of the Australian curriculum in NSW.
