Eligibility Criteria for Stage 6 Languages Courses in 2011

New eligibility criteria have been developed for Heritage languages courses and eligibility criteria have been revised for Beginners and Continuers courses in Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese, Indonesian and Korean.

NSW has recently developed Heritage language courses in Chinese (Mandarin), Japanese, Indonesian and Korean that will be introduced with Year 11 students from 2011. These courses were developed to cater for an increasing number of students who have some familial connection to the language and culture but have had little or no formal education in the language. Such students have typically found the Background Speakers course too difficult for their level of language proficiency.
