Overseas delegation from India

On 22 October 2012, the Board hosted a high-ranking delegation from India. The delegation was represented by Mr Apurva Chandra, Joint Secretary, Secondary Education and Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD). The group included Mr Chris Freeman, Research Director, ACER Sydney, Ms Ratna Dhamija, Manager, ACER India and Ms Frances Eveleigh, Assistant Manager, ACER Sydney.

Carol Taylor, Chief Executive, Board of Studies NSW, welcomed the delegation in line with the Board's wish to support such visits. In a presentation Carol Taylor provided an overview of the Board of Studies in the NSW educational context, the NSW Standard Referenced Approach, and assessment and credentialing of the HSC. Demonstrating the Board’s NSW syllabuses for the Australian curriculum website, Carol highlighted the new NSW K–10 syllabuses for English, Mathematics, Science and History incorporating Australian curriculum content. Carol also demonstrated how the Assessment Resource Centre supports consistency of teacher judgement in assessing the achievement of their students.
