Update on the new NSW K-10 syllabuses

Following the release of new K-10 syllabuses for English, Mathematics, Science (incorporating K-6 Science and Technology) and History, the Board of Studies has met with school systems and sectors for briefing meetings.

The meetings have included a presentation on the nature of the syllabuses, how the syllabuses differ from the current requirements and an explanation of the support material to be provided.

Participants were provided with a first-hand opportunity to clarify aspects of the syllabus with Board Inspectors and Curriculum Officers.

The briefing meetings signify the handover phase of the syllabus development process. Systems and sectors now take on the role of supporting schools with their implementation plans.

Remember, you can access the syllabuses and support materials anytime, anywhere on a variety of devices using the Board’s NSW syllabuses for the Australian curriculum website.

For information about implementation of the new syllabuses in NSW, read Official Notice BOS 24/12.
