In 2011 the Board of Studies endorsed the development of a Child Studies Years 7-10 Content Endorsed Course. The development of a Content Endorsed Course in Child Studies will support the large number of schools currently delivering School Developed Board Endorsed Courses for Stage 5 in this area.

A draft Child Studies Years 7-10 Content Endorsed Course syllabus will be developed and consultation conducted in Term 2, 2012. It is planned for the syllabus to be completed later in 2012. Following Board approval it will be published on the Board’s website and available for implementation from 2013.

The Child Studies Years 7-10 Content Endorsed Course will be based on exemplary school developed courses. It will include a range of flexible modules that schools can select from to design a course that reflects their current school developed course. The benefit to schools is that they will be able to continue to deliver a similar, high quality course in Child Studies, but no longer have to apply to the Board of Studies when their current endorsement expires (Official Notice BOS 01/12).
