Now available: The best of WriteOn 2011

A compilation of some of the best entries received in the 2011 WriteOn competition can now be purchased from the Board of Studies shop.

WriteOn is an annual writing competition open to all NSW primary students in Years 1 to 6.

Using a photograph as a stimulus, students are asked to compose a narrative, description, exposition or recount.

The result is a wonderful resource for teachers, parents and primary school students.

Teachers can use the stimulus photograph and student work samples to teach one or all of the text types represented. Students and teachers can also compare students’ writing with writing samples from across the state.

The compilation is also a great acquisition for a school or class library to use during silent reading time.

Parents can use WriteOn to see examples of various text types and what students in different grades are capable of composing.

Details on how teachers can encourage their students to enter the 2012 WriteOn competition are coming soon. Subscribe to the Board Bulletin to receive the latest updates.
