New standards materials for English (Standard and Advanced) HSC examinations are now available on the Assessment Resource Centre (ARC).

The standards materials include descriptions of the performance bands, samples of student responses whose achievements placed them on the borderline between two bands and, where possible, ‘exemplar’ student responses.

A search option means that student responses can now be selected by:

• type of question (multiple choice, short answer, extended response)
• band borderline (or exemplar)
• course module or component
• HSC examination year.

You can also refine your search for particular topics or type of responses using a keyword search and/or selecting a combination of relevant search criteria.

Existing standards packages for HSC examinations are being progressively reviewed for their continuing relevance to current syllabus requirements and examination specifications. In some cases responses related to more recent HSC examinations will be added.
