Program Builder for primary teachers

An excellent resource, Program Builder, has been developed alongside a range of support materials to assist teachers in NSW to implement the new NSW K–10 syllabuses for the Australian curriculum.

It is now available free at the following link: https://pb.bos.nsw.edu.au.

Designed by the Board exclusively for primary and secondary teachers in NSW, Program Builder is a programming tool that uses content from the new NSW syllabuses for the Australian curriculum to create scope and sequences, and units.

Following its launch last month by Minister Piccoli more than 14,000 teachers have logged in to Program Builder, with around 8,000 doing so during the recent Professional Development Days. Beyond logging in, teachers have created more than 9,000 programs and more than 58,000 units.

NSW teachers are able to access Program Builder using their Department of Education and Communities (DEC) or Scootle login details.

Program Builder allows primary and secondary teachers in NSW to focus on the job of programming. Leave behind copy and paste and let Program Builder do the formatting for you.

Develop your scope and sequences, and units with Program Builder's ready-to-use templates and easy drag-and-drop editing. Select outcomes and content from the new NSW syllabuses online and create your scope and sequence, and units instantly.

See how to create and edit a program or unit in the short video guides provided within program builder.

Sample scope and sequences, and programs have been included. This will enable your school to begin with the prepared units, and scope and sequences, and modify them to suit your context. Alternatively you can choose to start from scratch and create a program that suits the needs of your school. Three sample templates have been provided or you can customise the layout of your unit templates.

Visit the NSW syllabuses for the Australian curriculum website for more information about what programming involves, including planning for and designing effective learning and assessment, differentiated programming, sharing learning and assessment intentions, and integrating ICT capability. You will also find advice on scope and sequences, and units as well as a range of samples.
