Designing whole school Science and Technology scope and sequences

As planning for 2015 is being consolidated, schools are reminded that sample whole school scope and sequences are available on the BOSTES syllabus website.

These include samples that are easily adapted to the whole school direction for science and technology, which are a useful resource for schools preparing for the 2015 implementation of the new syllabus.

The samples include:

  • the unit name
  • an overview of the unit
  • related syllabus outcomes

For example:

Year 1 Unit name Unit overview Outcomes
Term 1 10 weeks 15 hours Our daily bread Students investigate how plants and animals provide us with food. They use their findings to prepare a simple food item. ST1-1VA, ST1-4WS, ST1-5WT, ST1-10LW, ST1-11LW, ST1-12MW

They cover Early Stage 1, Stage 1, a composite Year 3 and 4, and Stage 3. They provide a useful start for schools to establish a scope and sequence document outlining the units and syllabus outcomes for all Years K to 6.

Users of the BOSTES online programming tool Program Builder, will find scope and sequence templates and units already available to sample, adopt or adapt.
