The WriteOn 2014 competition is now open. WriteOn is for NSW students in Years 1 to 6 and is designed to encourage students to develop their writing skills. The competition is a great way to get students excited about writing.

Using the selected photograph for inspiration, students write a short piece of up to 500 words. Entries should be a description, exposition, narrative or recount. Schools should submit their best entry from each stage. The competition can be used as a whole class teaching activity or as an individual project for some students.

The competition will be judged by a panel of primary school teachers with Gold, Silver and Bronze award winners chosen from each stage. Outstanding entries will be published by BOSTES - a fantastic opportunity for any young author. Gold award winners will also be acknowledged at a special event.

Entries close 25 August.
