Teachers learn about HSC marking at regional workshops

Former senior marking staff and officers from the Examinations, Reporting and Credentialing Directorate recently ran a series of HSC marking workshops.

The workshops were held in various locations around the state. Over 180 teachers, many from rural and remote schools, were introduced to the principles of HSC marking through a hands-on simulation that used real student responses from 2013. They then participated in a group activity where they learnt to apply those principles to school assessment.

The response from participants was overwhelmingly positive. Teachers valued the opportunity to read and analyse benchmark scripts and to learn how the marking kit is applied. Many commented on how the workshop dispelled some 'marking myths', and gave them valuable insights into the HSC marking process.

Notice of future professional learning opportunities will be published in the BOSTES Bulletin.
