Since the last update of this site in September 2007, we have added new activities for Stage 2 English, Creative Arts and PDHPE and Stage 3 English, Creative Arts and PDHPE. We have also added additional aligned work samples across the following Key Learning Areas in K–6.
BOS 06/07 (Vol 16 No 1)
The Board of Studies wishes to advise teachers of minor amendments to syllabuses which include reference to first aid, in particular basic life support. These amendments are in response to the Australian Resuscitation Council's revised cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) guidelines.
BOS 05/07 (Vol 16 No 1)
The Board of Studies wishes to advise teachers of minor amendments to the PDHPE Stage 6 Syllabus. These amendments are in response to revised dietary guidelines, the inclusion of arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions as a national health priority area and the publication of Australia's Health 2006.
The Australian Resuscitation Council recently announced changes to their resuscitation guidelines. The revised guidelines recommend that full cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) be given to all those requiring resuscitation.
The Office of the Board of Studies hosted two Primary Education Research Forums in May and November 2006.
BOS 15/04
The Board of Studies has agreed to the development of a Content Endorsed Course for Stage 5 in the area of Exercise and Sports Studies. This course has been identified for development following the large number of applications from schools in recent years requesting Board endorsement for a range of School Developed Courses in areas relating to Physical Education.
BOS 38/03
The following amendments to the HSC Core 1 Health Priorities in Australia have been made to reflect the expanded list of priorities identified in the Australian Institute for Health and Welfare 2000 report Australia's Health. The amendments require the inclusion of asthma as a health priority area. It should be noted that only four of the six health priorities are to be studied in detail. The changes will take effect for Year 12 in Term 4, 2004 and the HSC examination in 2005.
