Official Notice - Amendments to PDHPE Stage 6 Syllabus

BOS 02/09

The PDHPE Stage 6 Syllabus has been amended to update and, in parts, reduce the content. The amended syllabus is to be implemented from 2010 for both the HSC and Preliminary courses.

The first HSC examination based on the amended PDHPE Stage 6 Syllabus will be in 2010.

The amended content and further information explaining the amendments are available on the Board of Studies website.

Effective: Commencement of 2010 HSC course and Preliminary course.

For Years K-6 (Stages 1, 2 & 3)

Since the last update of this site in September 2007, we have added new activities for Stage 2 English, Creative Arts and PDHPE and Stage 3 English, Creative Arts and PDHPE. We have also added additional aligned work samples across the following Key Learning Areas in K–6.

Official Notice - Amendments to syllabuses in the PDHPE KLA in response to revised CPR guidelines

BOS 06/07 (Vol 16 No 1)

The Board of Studies wishes to advise teachers of minor amendments to syllabuses which include reference to first aid, in particular basic life support. These amendments are in response to the Australian Resuscitation Council's revised cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) guidelines.

Official Notice - Minor amendments to the PDHPE Stage 6 Syllabus

BOS 05/07 (Vol 16 No 1)

The Board of Studies wishes to advise teachers of minor amendments to the PDHPE Stage 6 Syllabus. These amendments are in response to revised dietary guidelines, the inclusion of arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions as a national health priority area and the publication of Australia's Health 2006.

Syllabuses amended in response to revised CPR guidelines

The Australian Resuscitation Council recently announced changes to their resuscitation guidelines. The revised guidelines recommend that full cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) be given to all those requiring resuscitation.

Stage 5 School Developed Board Endorsed Courses in Physical Education

The Board of Studies has agreed to the development of a Content Endorsed Course for Stage 5 in the area of Exercise and Sports Studies. This course has been identified for development following the large number of applications from schools in recent years requesting Board endorsement for a range of School Developed Courses in areas relating to Physical Education.

Amendment to Personal Development, Health and Physical Education Stage 6 Syllabus (1999)

BOS 38/03

The following amendments to the HSC Core 1 Health Priorities in Australia have been made to reflect the expanded list of priorities identified in the Australian Institute for Health and Welfare 2000 report Australia's Health. The amendments require the inclusion of asthma as a health priority area. It should be noted that only four of the six health priorities are to be studied in detail. The changes will take effect for Year 12 in Term 4, 2004 and the HSC examination in 2005.
