Official Notice - Amendments to the Retail Services and Tourism and Events Curriculum Frameworks - delivery of loss prevention unit of competency

Minor, but significant, changes have been made to both the Retail Services and Tourism and Events Curriculum Frameworks for immediate implementation.

The changes relate to the delivery of a loss prevention unit of competency as a result of significant changes in legislation regulating the security industry in NSW.

Tourism and Events Curriculum Framework Support Materials now available

A range of support materials for the new Tourism and Events Curriculum Framework (2008) syllabus are now available including a mapping of the old Tourism syllabus to the new Tourism and Events syllabus, assessment information and sample scope and sequences.

Official Notice - New Tourism and Events (revised Tourism) Curriculum Framework

BOS 47/08 (Vol 17 No 4)

Following advice to schools, colleges and Registered Training Organisations in June 2008, the Tourism and Events Curriculum Framework (October 2008) replaces the Tourism Curriculum Framework (November 2002). This change commences in Year 11, 2009.

The HSC examination from 2010 onwards will be based on the new Tourism and Events Curriculum Framework.

The final Tourism HSC examination based on the existing 2002 Framework will be in 2009.

Syllabus documents are on the Board of Studies website at www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/syllabus_hsc/tourism-and-events.html.

The Board of Studies will send a printed copy of the Syllabus Parts A and B during Term 4, 2008 to all schools and TAFE NSW colleges delivering courses from the current Framework, and all teachers currently accredited to teach Tourism.

Tourism and Events Curriculum Framework

The revised Tourism and Events Curriculum Framework has been endorsed for implementation with Year 11, 2009. Parts A and B of the Syllabus and the Consultation Report on the Draft Syllabus are now available for download from the Board of Studies website.
