Board Endorsed VET courses for 2009

BOS 24/08 (Vol 17 No 2)

Guidelines and application forms for locally designed Stage 6 Board Endorsed VET courses for 2009 are now available on the Board's website.

The school system authorities (NSW Department of Education and Training (DET) and Catholic Diocesan Offices) are responsible for quality assurance of VET courses in their schools. For this reason, proposals need to be submitted via the relevant authority. Proposals supported by the authority will be forwarded to the Office of the Board of Studies for consideration.

All locally designed VET course proposals, including proposals for courses to be delivered by TAFE NSW or other providers outside the school, must be submitted for Board endorsement annually.

The Board of Studies offers a range of Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses for the Higher School Certificate. These include the Stage 6 Industry Curriculum Framework courses, and a wide variety of Content Endorsed Courses, which are delivered by TAFE NSW.

School Developed Board Endorsed Courses - Guidelines and Application Forms

Schools who wish to submit School Developed Course proposals for endorsement by the Board need to download an application form for Stage 5 and 6 courses commencing in 2008. Closing date for submissions is 30 March 2007.

The forms are available from the Manuals and Guides page.

There is also a booklet - Guidelines for Course Proposals - also available on the Manuals and Guides page.

Official Notice - Exclusions in VET Industry Curriculum Frameworks and Board Endorsed courses

BOS 31/06 (Vol 15 No 3)

Exclusions are applied to VET courses where there is either an overlap of units of competency or an overlap with other HSC courses.

Students may not undertake the same unit of competency in more than one VET course. Students can only be accredited once with the indicative hours allocated to any unit of competency.
