Dance to kick off 2008 HSC exams

Acting NSW Minister for Education and Training John Hatzistergos said today the first Higher School Certificate (HSC) examination of the year will begin today (11 August) with practical exams in Dance getting under way.

Attending a HSC Dance preview at Georges River College in Oatley, Mr Hatzistergos said 696 Dance students – 659 female and 37 male – were preparing for their first external exam, which includes a solo performance and a dance they have choreographed themselves.

Official Notice - Extension of Drama Stage 6 Course Prescriptions

BOS 27/08 (Vol 17 No 2)

This is to inform teachers and students that the Board of Studies has decided to extend the current Course Prescriptions for Stage 6 Drama to include the 2009 HSC.

The current Course Prescriptions (2006-2008) will remain unchanged for the 2009 HSC and are available on the Board of Studies website

Have you thought about contributing work samples from your own students to publish on this website? Click on the above link to read about how you can contribute.

For Years K-6 (Stages 1, 2 & 3)

Since the last update of this site in September 2007, we have added new activities for Stage 2 English, Creative Arts and PDHPE and Stage 3 English, Creative Arts and PDHPE. We have also added additional aligned work samples across the following Key Learning Areas in K–6.

Dance kicks off practical exams

Board Bulletin (Vol 16 No 4)

The first of the 2007 HSC examinations began with the practical exams in Dance on 6 August. Practical examinations have also been held in Drama, Music and Languages, while students of Society and Culture, Textiles and Design, Industrial Technology, Drama, English Extension 2, Design and Technology, Visual Arts, Music and Agriculture have submitted their major works and projects.

Official Notice - HSC Music Performance Examinations - use of unusual musical instruments or sound sources

BOS 29/07 (Vol 16 No 2)

Candidates for the HSC Music performance examination are required to perform with instrument(s) or voice.

Teachers are reminded to contact the Office of the Board of Studies to seek advice and permission if their students wish to use unusual or less conventional musical instruments or sound sources in the examinations.

ARC on a growth curve!

More than 270 activities and almost 1000 work samples aligned to grades are now on the Assessment Resource Centre (ARC) for Stages 1 to 5.

Almost 500 primary work samples are now on the ARC across all key learning areas. More than 80 activities are also available on the site to assist teachers in awarding A to E grades in Semester 1 reports.
