The guidelines for access to VET courses in Stage 5 in 2009 are now available on the Board's website.

For schools that belong to school systems, the relevant school sector authority will provide separate additional advice on processes for approval to offer and deliver VET courses to students in Stage 5 in 2009.

Schools intending to offer VET courses to students in Stage 5 in 2009 are required to complete a Notification of intention to access VET courses in Stage 5 in 2009 form and submit it to the Office of the Board of Studies by Friday, 29 August 2008.

Notification forms received will be forwarded to the relevant school system authority for their information.

VET Board Endorsed Course Descriptions for 2009 now available

The course descriptions for VET Board Endorsed Courses endorsed for 2009 (including Content Endorsed courses and locally designed courses) will be published on the Vocational Education page of the Board's website. A range of course descriptions are now available at www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/voc_ed/board-endorsed-courses.html

HSC Course descriptions for each of the VET Industry Curriculum Framework courses are now available for schools to use for HSC subject selection for 2009.

As a result of the endorsement of a new Tourism, Hospitality and Events Training Package (SIT07) in December 2007 the Board of Studies is revising the Tourism Curriculum Framework (approved November 2002) for anticipated implementation from Year 11 2009. Consultation on the Draft Tourism and Events Curriculum Framework is from 2 to 27 June 2008.

Details of Parts A and B of the draft Syllabus, consultation meetings and the consultation survey are now available on the Board of Studies website.

Guidelines and application forms for locally designed Stage 6 Board Endorsed VET courses for 2009 are now available on the Board's website.

The school system authorities (NSW Department of Education and Training (DET) and Catholic Diocesan Offices) are responsible for quality assurance of VET courses in their schools. For this reason, proposals need to be submitted via the relevant authority. Proposals supported by the authority will be forwarded to the Office of the Board of Studies for consideration.

As a result of the endorsement of a new Business Services Training Package (BSB07) in December 2007 the Board of Studies is revising the Business Services Curriculum Framework (approved November 2001) for anticipated implementation from Year 11 2009. Consultation on the Draft Business Services Curriculum Framework is from 5 May to 30 May 2008.

This document contains material and advice which is intended to assist teachers and trainers in the initial implementation of courses within the Framework and in the assessment of student competency. It must be read in conjunction with Parts A and B of the Syllabus.
