Consultation on the Draft Construction Curriculum Framework

The Draft Construction Curriculum Framework consultation documentation including the syllabus, consultation survey and details of consultation meetings, teleconferences and videoconferences is now available.

Consultation on the draft syllabus will run from 15 May to 12 June 2009.

Official Notice - Amendments to the Retail Services and Tourism and Events Curriculum Frameworks - delivery of loss prevention unit of competency

Minor, but significant, changes have been made to both the Retail Services and Tourism and Events Curriculum Frameworks for immediate implementation.

The changes relate to the delivery of a loss prevention unit of competency as a result of significant changes in legislation regulating the security industry in NSW.

Official Notice - Amendments to the Automotive Curriculum Framework Stage 6 Syllabus

BOS 10/09

A new version of the Automotive Industry Retail Service and Repair Training Package has been released (AUR05v2), in line with the continuous improvement of all training packages.

The Board of Studies has amended the Automotive Curriculum Framework Stage 6 Syllabus (2007) to incorporate the changes. This does not affect the examinable units of competency.

The following units of competency have been added to some courses in the Automotive Curriculum Framework:

  • AURB211304A Assemble bicycles
  • AURT335108A Carry out machining operations
  • AURV223608A Carry out oxy acetylene welding, thermal cutting and thermal heating procedures
  • AURV223808A Carry out soft soldering techniques
  • AURV232108A Carry out custom graphics design and layout techniques
  • AURV232208A Carry out fundamental airbrush application techniques
  • AURV281308A Carry out gas metal arc (MIG) welding procedures
  • AURV332308A Carry out custom painting techniques.

The updated syllabus documents and further information regarding the changes are available on the Board of Studies website.

A copy of Part A of the Syllabus showing the tracked changes is also available.

Official Notice - New Construction Curriculum Framework in 2010

The Construction Curriculum Framework (2004) will undergo a major review in 2009, following the endorsement of new national Training Packages. It is intended that the new Framework will be available for implementation in 2010.

VET Curriculum Writers - Call for Expressions of Interest

To assist with the management of syllabus development for Vocational Education and Training in 2009, the Office of the Board of Studies is updating its register of curriculum writers. This register will be used to select writers to undertake tasks at various stages of the year.

Projects for 2009 require writers with particular expertise in the following areas:

  • Construction
  • Primary Industries

People with expertise in writing syllabuses, support materials, samples or units of work and/or in the conduct of educational research are invited to submit an expression of interest in being on the register.

More information and an expression of interest form are available online.

The expression of interest form should be completed and submitted, along with the required supporting statements and documentation to:
