Official Notice - Update of the Science Stage 6 Revised Support Document 2007

The Science Stage 6 Revised Support Document 2007 is available with each of the Stage 6 Science syllabuses in the HSC syllabus section of the Board of Studies website. It has now been updated to be consistent with the 2010 changes to assessment components and weightings for the Science Stage 6 courses and minor amendments to the Science Stage 6 syllabuses and the Science Years 7-10 Syllabus.

The following minor amendments to the Science Years 7-10 Syllabus clarify the scope of additional content and the intent of the essential content related to outcomes 4.1, 5.1, 4.4, 5.4, 4.13, 5.13, 4.15 and 5.15.

The amended Science Years 7-10 Syllabus is now available on the Board of Studies website.

Effective: Commencement of 2010.

Stage 6 Science Sample Learning Units

A sample learning unit for a preliminary course module from each of Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Environmental Science, Physics and Senior Science is now available on the Board's website.

Together with the Stage 6 Support Document (2007) and Science Stage 6 Skills Module 8.1 and 9.1 Mapping Grids the sample learning units are designed to assist teachers in implementing the Science Stage 6 Syllabuses.

Teachers invited to comment on Draft Writing Brief

The Board of Studies wishes to advise teachers that pages 22, 25, 29 and 32 of the web version of the Biology Stage 6 Syllabus have been updated to align the numbering and wording of Assumed Knowledge statements in the Preliminary modules with those in the Science Years 7-10 Syllabus.
