New Board Bulletin e-zine launched

The Board Bulletin is now entirely electronic and will be delivered in a simple weekly digest email from the start of Term 2, 2010. Since the end of 2008, full news articles and Official Notices have been available online only and a print summary has been distributed once each term. Over the same period, the Board has encouraged teachers, principals, parents and students to subscribe to the internet news service by RSS feed or email alerts. With thousands of new email subscribers, the time has come to make the switch to fully electronic delivery of important Board news and Official Notices. The Board's new-look Board Bulletin contains all news articles and Official Notices, which are particularly important reading for NSW school teachers. Each Monday, email subscribers will now receive a simple digest edition of any new items added in the past week. What's in the Board Bulletin?
  • important Higher School Certificate and School Certificate news
  • articles describing Board developments, such as onscreen marking
  • advice and links to materials about programming and assessment from K-12
  • advertisements for jobs such as HSC and SC markers and exam committee members
  • competitions and award information for students and others
  • Official Notices
What are Official Notices?
  • Official Notices are essential reading for teaching service staff from K-12, particularly in secondary schools
  • Official Notices usually describe changes to rules and content relating to HSC and other courses, as well as rules for registering non-government schools and home-schooling
  • Official Notices are archived on the Board Bulletin news site and, as the information in may directly affect school operations, principals should ensure the notices are circulated to any relevant school staff
If you prefer to view updates as they happen via your RSS feed on a personalised web page such as iGoogle you may not need to subscribe to the email digest. However, teachers should be aware that the Official Notices can only be found online now and should check their feed regularly for updates. Principals accustomed to circulating printed Official Notices to teaching service staff may find it faster to circulate the new Board Bulletin email each week, and to encourage their staff to subscribe to this email digest themselves.
