English Extension 2 Update

BOSTES 33/14

Who needs to read this notice:
Principals
English coordinators
HSC English Ext 2 teachers

Marking of the English Extension 2 Major Works has recently concluded. In 2014 students took advantage of opportunities to work in a wide variety of categories across print, sound and visual media. Advances in technology and its ready availability have enabled students to explore and engage more easily with sound and visual media.

From 2015, students undertaking Major Works in print or sound media will be required to submit their Major Works and Reflection Statements in PDF format. Schools will then upload them to BOSTES via Schools Online. Further information on this process will be provided early in 2015.

As in 2014, students must submit their Major Work Journals to the supervising teacher with their Major Works; however the journals are not to be sent to BOSTES unless specifically requested.

Teachers are reminded that BOSTES has recently published changes to the word limits for Short Stories and Critical Responses. The amended examination specifications are available to download from the BOSTES website. New FAQs will also be published early next year.
