Safetytown website goes live
Last Wednesday a new innovative and interactive web based resource, Safetytown was launched at Darlinghurst Public School. This will be the first part of the website which includes a public site for teachers, students and parents.
Safetytown is for Stage 3 students and covers the PDHPE Safe Living strand content area of road and pedestrian safety. This free resource has been funded by Transport for NSW (TfNSW).
At the start of Term 2, a “teachers only” section and accompanying handbook will also be launched.
Schools will be provided with free posters to support the website. TfNSW will be promoting the website and a range of other free resources at their stand at the Royal Easter Show.
Safetytown covers the 7 key road safety messages through the use of video and interactive games and activities. It can be used to meet some outcomes in the PDHPE syllabus for Stage 3 students and could be used when exploring the new English and Mathematics syllabuses.
The online games and videos provide a range of opportunities for discussion, writing, creating and problem solving.
Activities for families are also included.
