10 New Teacher Accreditation External Observers Trained

Congratulations to 10 teachers from Government, Catholic and Independent schools, who completed the two day External Observer training from 27 to 28 February.

This brings the total to 63 trained External Observers.

External Observers play a crucial role in the accreditation process of teachers at the two voluntary levels of the teaching standards framework.

Spending a school day with applicants, External Observers independently review a teacher’s practice against the teaching standards. The External Observer’s report then forms part of the candidate’s accreditation submission.

External Observers are themselves highly-skilled and experienced teachers, most of whom are also accredited at Professional Leadership.

Accreditation at the levels of Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher recognise excellence and leadership in teaching practice, delivering student outcomes and contributing to the profession.

Information about each level of NSW teacher accreditation is available on the website
