BOSTES Literacy and Numeracy tests: who are they for?

BOSTES literacy and numeracy tests will be available for students in Years 10, 11 and 12 from 22-28 May. Schools Online is open for enrolments until 20 May.

Who are these tests for?

The literacy and numeracy tests are for students who intend to leave school before the HSC exams and who wish to receive a report on their literacy and numeracy skills for a potential employer or further training. The test reports provide a mark out of 80. The mark relates to a nationally-recognised adult literacy and numeracy framework called the Australian Core Skills Framework (ACSF). Industry groups use the ACSF levels as benchmarks in recognition of the necessity of literacy and numeracy skills for the workplace and further training.

Additionally, where students have not left school immediately after the tests, schools have found these results useful in targeting literacy and numeracy resources while these students remain at school.
