For the first time, NSW principals are able to view the 2014 NAPLAN Writing tests for their students. Access to the images is via the BOSTES Schools Online website from 1 September.

To log in to Schools Online:

· secondary and central schools should use their current Schools Online username and password
· primary schools and other schools that have not previously accessed Schools Online should use their PAR username and password

Access will enable schools to:

· print and/or save the images for assessment and reporting purposes
· use the images for professional development activities

Professional development of teachers

It is anticipated that access to the images may aid the professional development of teachers by giving them a greater understanding of the NAPLAN persuasive writing marking rubric, especially when the images are used in conjunction with the NAPLAN Persuasive writing marking guide and the individual student results. The marking guide contains the 10 common criteria, which each test has been marked against.
