The reviewed Stage 6 Creative Arts Life Skills Syllabus (2009) is now available on the Board’s website.
A review of the Stage 6 Creative Arts Life Skills Syllabus (1999, amended 2007) was undertaken by the Board to provide:
The reviewed syllabus will replace the Stage 6 Creative Arts Life Skills Syllabus (1999, amended 2007) and will be implemented in 2010 for students undertaking a preliminary course or courses from the syllabus. Teachers will continue to use the existing syllabus for students studying the HSC Stage 6 Creative Arts Life Skills course in 2010.
The following table summarises key changes resulting from the review of the Stage 6 Creative Arts Life Skills Syllabus.

All students in courses from the Automotive Curriculum Framework can now undertake the following two units of competency as elective units. The units are no longer restricted to students doing a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship.

The following amendments have been made to the assessment and external examination in English Extension 2 with effect from the commencement of the 2010 HSC course.
Internal assessment
The components for the internal assessment will be the two course objectives, with equal weighting. The objectives are:
Objective 1: Skills in extensive independent investigation
Objective 2: Skills in sustained composition.
There will be three assessment tasks, as shown in the table below.

In developing the NSW Science curriculum, the Board of Studies undertook extensive consultation with experts in the field to ensure that content, including that relating to evolution, would be consistent with accepted scientific knowledge and understanding.

Every non-government school must produce a 2008 annual report and disclose it publicly by 30 June 2009. Ideally, the annual report will be published on the school's website.
The school must also submit an electronic copy of its annual report to the Board of Studies by 30 June 2009.

The Board of Studies has revised the policy on recognition of prior learning (RPL) and credit transfer within VET courses. This advice supersedes previous advice.

Exclusions between course choices apply to HSC VET courses where there is an overlap with other HSC courses.

Examination rubrics for the HSC English examinations for English (Standard), English (Advanced) and English (ESL) have changed as a result of the release of English Stage 6 Prescriptions: Area of Study, Electives and Texts 2009-2012 (PDF, 43 pages, 3.9 MB).

In the period February 2007-December 2008, the Board of Studies reviewed the current Science and Technology K-6 Syllabus. A draft syllabus has been under development in accordance with the endorsed Writing Brief. The original timetable included consultation on the draft syllabus during Term 2, 2009.
