The Board of Studies NSW has received advice from technical experts on additional action in relation to the marking of the HSC Biology examination question 8.

In addition to accepting both option B and option D as correct responses to the multiple choice question, which is worth one mark, the Board has reviewed the responses of all students who undertook the exam. The Board has used the patterns of responses to allocate a mark to those students where the available statistical data indicated that this question would have been answered correctly in normal circumstances.
