Stage 6 Community and Family Studies revisions and Life Skills Syllabus

The Board is currently undertaking a minor revision of the Stage 6 Community and Family Studies syllabus to update the content and provide a more contemporary approach to learning about the needs of young children and families. The revisions will not impact on the current core and option structure of the course or the examination specifications.

In response to the increasing candidature in the course and to further broaden the Stage 6 Life Skills options available, the Board is also developing a Stage 6 Community and Family Studies Life Skills syllabus which will enable students with a disability to undertake learning in this area.

Consultation on both the draft Stage 6 Community and Family Studies revised syllabus and the draft Stage 6 Community and Family Studies Life Skills syllabus will be conducted in Term 2, 2013. Following Board of Studies approval, it is anticipated that the final syllabuses will be available to schools in October 2013, for Preliminary course implementation in 2014 and HSC course implementation in 2015.
