The Mathematics General Stage 6 Syllabus is being implemented with Year 11 in 2013 and will be implemented with Year 12 from Term 4.

Since the release of the syllabus in May 2012, support materials to assist teachers have been released progressively on the Board’s website.

At the end of Term 1 2013, the following additional materials were released:

• support materials for the teaching of new syllabus content
• support for reporting achievement in the HSC Mathematics General 1 course.

The support materials for the teaching of new syllabus content are provided as separate documents for each of the Preliminary Mathematics General, HSC Mathematics General 2 and HSC Mathematics General 1 courses. The documents include links to online resources that could be used to support the teaching and learning of topics within the strands and focus studies, as well as a range of other information and activities.

The support for reporting achievement in HSC Mathematics General 1 (Content Endorsed Course) consists of performance descriptions that provide the standards to be used when submitting assessment marks for students in HSC Board Endorsed Courses (including Content Endorsed Courses).

An HSC specimen examination paper, sample marking guidelines and performance band descriptions for the HSC Mathematics General 2 course will also be provided as soon as practicable.
