Mathematics General 2 specimen examination package

The Mathematics General Stage 6 Syllabus is being implemented with Year 11 in 2013 and will be implemented with Year 12 from Term 4.

The initial HSC examination for the Preliminary Mathematics General/HSC Mathematics General 2 pathway will be in 2014.

Since the release of the syllabus in May 2012, support materials to assist teachers have been released progressively on the Board’s website.

At the end of Term 2 2013, the Mathematics General 2 specimen examination package was released. The package contains:

The specimen examination questions are closely related to the outcomes and content of the Preliminary Mathematics General and HSC Mathematics General 2 courses. Also the ‘considerations’ (the list of important considerations for teaching and learning that accompanies each of the strand and focus study topics) in the syllabus have been taken into account, as appropriate, in the development of the specimen examination. Similarly, they will be taken into account in the development of the Mathematics General 2 HSC examinations for 2014 and beyond.
