WriteOn 2013

The WriteOn 2013 competition is now open. WriteOn is for NSW students in Years 1 to 6 and is designed to encourage students to develop their writing skills. The competition is a great way to get students excited about writing.

Using the selected photograph for inspiration, students write a short piece of up to 500 words. Entries should be a description, exposition, narrative or recount. Schools should submit their best entry from each stage. The competition can be used as a whole class teaching activity or as an individual project for some students.

A downloadable poster (PDF) is available promoting the competition. Primary schools are encouraged to display this poster in their staff rooms to increase awareness of the competition and encourage participation.

The competition will be judged by a panel of primary school teachers with Gold, Silver and Bronze award winners chosen from each stage. Outstanding entries will be published by the Board – a fantastic opportunity for any young author. Gold award winners will also be acknowledged at a special morning tea event.

Entries close 17 September 2013.
