NAPLAN PAR information for DEC and CEC schools

The NAPLAN tests will be conducted from 13-15 May 2014. For students in Years 3 and 5, there are four tests covering numeracy, reading, writing and language conventions (spelling, punctuation and grammar). For students in Years 7 and 9, there are five tests including two tests in numeracy a calculator allowed and a non-calculator test.

All schools will be provided with copies of the Handbook for Principals and the Test Administration Handbook for Teachers to assist in the administration of NAPLAN.

The Handbook for Principals, which will be distributed to all schools by the end of February, contains two parts:

  • Part A - National Protocols for Test Administration
  • Part B - Jurisductional information detailing the administration, processing and reporting of NAPLAN in NSW schools.

Principals must complete the Statement of Compliance, acknowledging that they have read the Handbook for Principals and accept the terms of the NAPLAN Code of Conduct, before the Participation and Registration (PAR) website can be accessed.

The PAR website will be live for all DEC and CEC schools from 27 February to 7 March. During this period, the principal or their delegate, must:

  • check the details for the students listed in each cohort
  • check the roll class groupings and amend or delete, as required
  • provide the details for the NAPLAN school contacts
  • check the school address and advise the NAPLAN team at BOSTES if it is incorrect.

Schools must confirm that the student details in PAR are correct. This is to ensure that test books and student reports are printed with the correct student details.

The PAR manual details the tasks which need to be completed during phase 1 (February - March).
