Morning

Arabic Beginners
Candidature: 1 (as at 1 September 2015)
Begins:
9:30 am Ends: 12:10 pm

The paper consists of three sections.
Section I – Listening (30 marks)
In this section, students listen and respond to recorded texts in Arabic. Questions are phrased in English for responses in English.
Section II – Reading (30 marks)
In this section, students read texts in Arabic and answer questions phrased in English, for responses in English.
Section III – Writing in Arabic (20 marks)
This section consists of two parts. Part A is made up of two questions phrased in English, requiring responses in Arabic. Part B consists of two questions phrased in English and Arabic, requiring responses in Arabic. Students answer one question.

Arabic Continuers
Candidature: 187 (as at 1 September 2015)

The paper consists of three sections.
Section I – Listening and Responding (25 marks)
In this section, students listen and respond to recorded texts in Arabic. Questions are phrased in English for responses in English or Arabic, as specified.
Section II – Reading and Responding (40 marks)
This section has two parts. In Part A, students read two texts written in Arabic and respond in English to short-answer questions phrased in English. In Part B, the question is based on a short text written in Arabic. Students respond in Arabic to an extended-response question phrased in English.
Section III – Writing in Arabic (15 marks)
There are two writing tasks. For the second writing task, students have a choice of two extended-response alternatives.

Automotive
Candidature: 581 (as at 1 September 2015)
Begins:
9:25 am Ends: 11:30 am

There are two separate examination papers, one for each of the following streams: Mechanical Technology and Vehicle Body. Each paper consists of four sections.
Section I (15 marks) consists of 15 multiple-choice questions, answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet. Five questions are based on the mandatory focus areas.
Section II (35 marks) consists of short answer questions answered in the spaces provided on the question paper. 15 marks are allocated to questions on the mandatory focus areas.
Section III (15 marks) consists of one structured extended response question based on the stream focus area and is answered in a separate writing booklet.
Section IV (15 marks) consists of one extended response question based on the mandatory focus areas and will be the same for both papers. This question will be answered in a separate writing booklet.
All questions are compulsory.

Business Services
Candidature: 1723 (as at 1 September 2015)
Begins:
9:25 am Ends: 11:30 am

This paper consists of four sections.
Section I (15 marks) consists of 15 multiple-choice questions answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet.
Section II (35 marks) consists of short-response questions answered in the spaces provided on the question paper.
Section III (15 marks) consists of one extended response question, answered in a separate writing booklet.
Section IV (15 marks) consists of one structured extended response, answered in a separate writing booklet.
All questions are compulsory.

English Extension 1
Candidature: 4567 (as at 1 September 2015)

The examination consists of three modules.
Module A: Genre
Module B: Texts and Ways of Thinking
Module C: Language and Values
Students answer two questions from the module they have studied. All questions require an extended-response and are of equal value.

Afternoon

Agriculture
Candidature: 1379 (as at 1 September 2015)

The paper consists of two sections.
Section I has two parts. Part A (20 marks) consists of 20 multiple-choice questions, answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet. Part B (60 marks) consists of short-answer questions. All questions are compulsory and are answered on the examination paper in the spaces provided.

Section II consists of six questions, two for each of the three electives. The first question on each elective is worth 8 marks and the second is an extended response worth 12 marks. Students must attempt both questions on the elective they have studied. Questions are answered in separate writing booklets.

CCAFL languages - Background Speakers

Persian (31)

CCAFL (Collaborative Curriculum and Assessment Framework for Languages) is a national framework for the development of languages syllabuses and the setting and marking of languages examinations. Under the CCAFL agreement various state and territory curriculum, assessment and certification authorities develop examinations in a wide range of small candidature community languages.

The Background Speakers examination has three papers, all of which are compulsory.
Paper 1 (25 marks)
This paper consists of two parts. In Part A (10 marks) students listen to one text and respond in English to a number of questions relating to both the content and language features of the text. In Part B (15 marks) students listen to two texts and answer one question that requires the student to evaluate, compare and contrast the information, opinions, and ideas from the texts.
Paper 2 (50 marks)
This paper consists of two parts. In Part A (25 marks) students respond to a number of questions on one written text. Questions are written in the target language and/or English for answers in either the target language or English as specified. In Part B (25 marks) students read one text and answer one question in the target language that requires the student to respond to the opinions, ideas and information in the text.
Paper 3 (25 marks)
Students are required to write one original text in the target language. The student is expected to make reference to at least two of the texts studied from the prescribed reading list. There is a choice of three questions. Questions are phrased in the target language and English. Each question is worth 25 marks.

CCAFL languages - Continuers

Under the CCAFL agreement, various state and territory curriculum, assessment and certification authorities develop examinations in a wide range of small candidature community languages. Because these examinations are used nationally, they are scheduled at a time suitable to all participating states.

The Continuers examination consists of three sections.
Section 1 - Listening and Responding (30 marks)
This section consists of two parts. In Part A (15 marks) students listen to three aural texts in the target language and respond to questions in English. In Part B (15 marks) students listen to three aural texts. Questions are phrased in English and the target language. Students are required to respond in the target language.
Section 2 - Reading and Responding (25 marks)
This section consists of two parts. In Part A (10 marks) students respond in English to a number of questions on two written texts. In Part B (15 marks) students read approximately 150 words in the target language and answer one question in the target language by responding to the information, ideas and/or opinions in the text.
Section 3 (20 marks)
Students are required to write a text in the target language. There are two to four questions, of which students must choose one. Questions are phrased in the target language and English.

Spanish Beginners
Candidature: 178 (as at 1 September 2015)

This section has two parts. In Part A (20 marks), students read two texts in Vietnamese and answer questions phrased in English, for responses in English. In Part B (10 marks), students read a short text in Vietnamese. The task is phrased in English for a response in Vietnamese.
Section III – Writing in Vietnamese (15 marks)
Students are required to write an original text in Vietnamese. There is a choice of two questions.
