Curriculum options for students with special education needs

Decisions about curriculum options for students with special education needs should be made using the collaborative curriculum planning process. This helps to ensure that syllabus outcomes and content reflect the learning needs and priorities of individual students.

The collaborative curriculum planning process helps schools and teachers to:

  • identify curriculum options
  • select adjustments to teaching, learning and assessment activities
  • identify curriculum options
  • select adjustments to teaching, learning and assessment activities

A useful resource for this planning process is the Planning for Personalised Learning and Support: A National Resource (Based on the Disability Standards for Education 2005)

Information about the collaborative curriculum planning process is also available on the BOSTES website at: www.syllabus.bostes.nsw.edu.au/collaborative-planning/
