Folio requirements for the projects submitted as part of the Design and Technology and Industrial Technology HSC examinations from 2011 have been amended.

The amendments are a result of consultation the Board conducted during Term 3 with teachers, markers and supervisors of marking. The consultation explored limiting the length of folios and providing students and teachers with further guidance regarding what is expected in the submitted projects.

Details of these requirements and further guidance are contained in Assessment and Reporting in Design and Technology Stage 6 and Assessment and Reporting in Industrial Technology Stage 6.

Teachers and students should read the above documents for details regarding:

• purpose of submitted projects in these courses
• rationale for inclusion of material in folios
• length and presentation of folios
• duration of media-based materials submitted as part of the folio
• size and scope of projects

In addition, the Industrial Technology Major Project examination criteria in the Assessment and Reporting document have been adjusted to make them consistent in format and wording with the amended Industrial Technology Stage 6 Syllabus (2008) available on the Board’s website.

Industrial Technology HSC Major Project marking guidelines will be amended to be consistent with these criteria later in Term 4, 2010.
