Higher School Certificate Examinations Thursday 23 October 2014

 

Morning

 

Business Studies

Candidature: 16287 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 9:25 AM Ends: 12:30 PM

The paper consists of four sections.

Section I (20 marks) consists of 20 multiple-choice questions answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet.

Section II (40 marks) consists of four to six short answer questions, which may contain a number of parts. Answers are written in the spaces provided on the question paper.

Section III (20 marks) consists of one question that requires an extended response in the form of a business report.

All questions in Sections I, II and III are compulsory.

Section IV (20 marks) consists of two extended-response questions. Students answer one question from this section.

 

Afternoon

 

Italian Continuers

Candidature: 300 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 2:00 PM Ends: 5:00 PM

The paper consists of three sections.

Section I – Listening and Responding (25 marks)
In this section, students listen and respond to recorded texts in Italian. Questions are phrased in English for responses in English or Italian, as specified.

Section II – Reading and Responding (40 marks)
This section has two parts.
In Part A, students read two texts written in Italian and respond in English to short-answer questions phrased in English.
In Part B, the question is based on a short text written in Italian. Students respond in Italian to an extended-response question which is phrased in English.

Section III – Writing in Italian (15 marks)
There are two writing tasks. For the second writing task, students have a choice of two extended-response alternatives.



Senior Science

Candidature: 6473 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 1:55 PM Ends: 5:00 PM

The paper consists of two sections.

Section I Core (75 marks) consists of two parts.
Part A – 20 multiple-choice questions (20 marks), answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet.
Part B – short-response questions (55 marks) answered in the spaces provided on the question paper.

All questions in Section I are compulsory.

Section II Options (25 marks) consists of five questions, one for each option. Students answer the question based on the option they have studied. The question is answered in two separate writing booklets.
