Higher School Certificate Examinations Friday 24 October 2014

 

Morning

 

Economics

Candidature: 5213 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 9:25 AM Ends: 12:30 PM

The paper consists of four sections.

Section I (20 marks) consists of 20 multiple-choice questions answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet.

Section II (40 marks) consists of short-answer questions, which may contain a number of parts and may be based on stimulus material. The questions are answered in the spaces provided on the paper.

All questions in Sections I and II are compulsory.

Section III (20 marks) consists of two extended response stimulus-based questions of equal value. Students attempt one question.

Section IV (20 marks) consists of two extended response questions of equal value. Students attempt one question.

Questions are to be answered in the Sections III and IV writing booklet.

 

Italian Beginners

Candidature: 355 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 9:30 AM Ends: 12:10 PM

The paper consists of three sections.

Section I – Listening (30 marks)
In this section, students listen and respond to recorded texts in Italian. Questions are phrased in English for responses in English.

Section II – Reading (30 marks)
In this section, students read texts in Italian and answer questions phrased in English for responses in English.

Section III – Writing in Italian (20 marks)
This section consists of two parts.
Part A is made up of two questions phrased in English requiring responses in Italian.
Part B consists of two questions phrased in English and Italian requiring responses in Italian. Students answer one question.


Italian Extension

Candidature: 68 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 9:25 AM Ends: 11:25 AM

The paper consists of two sections.

Section I – Response to prescribed text (25 marks)
This section has two parts.
In Part A, students answer a number of short-answer questions based on a short extract from the prescribed text.
In Part B, the question relates to another extract from the prescribed text. Students respond in Italian to an extended-response question which is phrased in both English and Italian.

Section II – Writing in Italian (15 marks) Students have a choice of two extended- response questions related to the prescribed issues and respond in Italian.

 

Metal and Engineering

Candidature: 1328 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 9:25 AM Ends: 11:30 AM


The paper consists of four sections.

Section I (15 marks) consists of 15 multiple-choice questions answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet.

Section II (35 marks) consists of short response questions answered in the spaces provided on the question paper.

Section III (15 marks) consists of one extended response question answered in a separate writing booklet.

Section IV (15 marks) consists of one structured extended response, answered in a separate writing booklet.

All questions are compulsory.

 



Afternoon


Software Design and Development

Candidature: 1762 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 1:55 PM Ends: 5:00 PM

The paper consists of three sections.

Section I (20 marks) consists of multiple-choice questions answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet.

Section II (60 marks) consists of approximately 10 questions, some which may be made up of parts and answered in the spaces provided on the question paper.

All questions in Sections I and II are compulsory.

Section III (20 marks) consists of two questions, one for each option. Students answer the question on the option they have studied. The question is answered in the spaces provided on the question paper.

 

Spanish Extension

Candidature: 49 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 1:55 PM Ends: 3:55 PM

The paper consists of two sections.

Section I – Response to prescribed text (25 marks)
This section has two parts.
In Part A, students answer a number of short-answer questions based on a short extract from the prescribed text.
In Part B, the question relates to another extract from the prescribed text. Students respond in Spanish to an extended-response question which is phrased in both English and Spanish.

Section II – Writing in Spanish (15 marks)
Students have a choice of two extended-response questions related to the prescribed issues and respond in Spanish.

 

Textiles and Design

Candidature: 1889 (as at 1 September 2014)

Begins: 1:55 PM Ends: 3:30 PM

The paper consists of three sections.

Section I (10 marks) consists of multiple-choice questions answered on a separate machine-scored answer sheet.

Section II (25 marks) consists of three questions, made up of short-response parts, answered on the question paper.

In Section III (15 marks) students choose one of two structured extended response questions. This question is answered in a separate writing booklet.
